Multiple zones of proximal development

This model class as a community is defined by Ann Brown and associates as "Fostering Communities of Learners " ("Promote Community of learners"). Projects implemented in the elementary grades and averages are based on solid theoretical basis with reference to the social nature of learning and the psychology of Piaget and Vygotsky. Taking the construct vygotskiano, they regard the class as being composed of various zones of proximal development, through which ", participants can navigate to different paths and different speeds." A zone of proximal development was created intentionally by a partnership between teachers and students, and it can include materials such as books, bulletin boards, blackboards, scientific equipment and computing environment in order to stimulate active learning. Participants are free to appropriate the vocabulary, ideas, methods, and through personal interpretation, transform these ideas into knowledge and expertise shared.
In the class as a community also change the roles: students are required to assume the roles of teacher, publisher, editor, of mentor to peers and the teacher is a member of the community, but at the same time, serve as a model of active learning and a guide for students and experts from outside the class, parents may be competent on a given subject, students large, researchers from other institutions.
